Took the bus to Venice from our crappy campsite. It was starting to get really warm at this point in our trip, but it still wasn't too bad here. Also this was the first really touristy place we visited so it was pretty crowded.
We got around by boat, and visited lots of churches as always, but by this point I didn't care for them at all. The big cathedral seemed a bit run down and was covered in scaffolding, might have been quite impressive otherwise. There was this one church with a whirlwind set up inside, that was interesting.
Nothing we saw in Venice was particularly amazing, guess the most interesting part of the town was just the water and transport systems.
We had pizza at some restaurant, later had some icecream (melted rapidly), fed some pigeons and then headed back.
Returned to our campsite, got a better room after complaining and pointing out that their website had outdated information. Finally got an air conditioner and even a fridge, woop.
There was tons of mosquitoes around, and a lot of them got into our room. So we counted scores to see who could kill the most. Many of them exploded in blood when slapped, so we left quite a mess on some of the walls.
There was a music festival on nearby, and it went on most of the night. The music was dead loud so I had to sleep with headphones on. Lame.
There was such a beautiful thunder storm over the sea while I was there, quite an enchanting city... course the alley's were so narrow and dark that it was almost like "okay... I know he was never here but where's jack the ripper?"
